The University of Western States is located in a residential neighborhood
only 20 minutes from downtown Portland. Located in a quiet, residential
area, there is affordable and plentiful housing available. Because parking
is at a premium, students are encouraged to walk, bike, or take public
transportation to campus. We do not offer on campus housing, however, the
Office of Student Services helps provide students with housing resources for
Portland and surrounding areas near the University. Information about
community housing opportunities is posted throughout campus and is also
available in a housing binder located at the front desk of the Admissions
Office.
UWS is located in the Russell neighborhood. When looking into housing, take
note of our location and surrounding neighborhoods. To find information on
neighborhood boundaries you can go to www/portlandonline.com. UWS
encourages students to research the area on their own at
www.portlandmaps.com. For pet
owners, the Oregon Humane Society keeps a list of pet friendly rentals which
you can view at
http://www.oregonhumane.org/services/pet_friendly_rentals.asp#properties.
For students interested in finding roommates, the UWS roommate referral
system works with students who wish to live with other students. Once a
roommate referral form has been filed with the Office of Student Services,
the student’s information will be shared with other interested students. For
